Boiler Expansion tank problem

I have a 25 yr old Weil Mclain 85K btu boiler and three years ago the 30 psi safety valve starting putting water on the floor.

Plumbing Company came in and repaced Expansion tank, safety value, and
water pressure gauge and it worked for one heating season.

Next two years problem returned even when water pressure was set to
zero on the water pressure gauge.

Because I have no easy way to just drain the expansion tank I drained the whole system and removed the expansion tank which was full of water.

My tire pressure gauge, which starts at 10psi, did not register when used on the removed expansion tank.

(Plumbing Copamny no longer does residential work)

Before problems started I used to run at 18PSI and I assume that this is OK even though the Et-30 comes from factory at 12PSI.

Should I just buy another Watts ET-30 and hope that this one holds up longer?

If the tank was full of water, it was defective. I have had many problems with Extrol and Watts tanks lasting only a few years lately. I don't know why, but just replace it. It may have a 5 year warranty so check that out first. 18 psi is higher than is probably necessary but it should still work at that pressure.
