Expansion tank repair

Any reason I can't weld a pin hole in my expansion tank as a temporary fix? Can I get heat without the tank (bypass somehow)? Any other suggestions would be appreciated as it will get into the thirties today and tomorrow. Never had water heat before and it looks like I won't be able to get a new expansion tank until Monday. Thanks, Charlie

Wink

If you have a pin hole there it will be hard to weld it. The rest of the metal will be gone there also . You dont say a bladder tank or just air tank. Just to get by I have put a screw in it If one dont work put a bigger one in it till you get one that holds for a time. There also is a tank plug set up to fix it for a while. Dont know if you can find them there today.
