Smile Expansion Tank Service

I had to drain my boiler in order to fix a few leaky pipes. I have an Extrol expansion tank installed and I need to know what to do (to the tank) when I fill my system. The incoming water supply has a manual fill valve that is set at 12 psi. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks—Marc

Unless you have some reason to believe that there is a problem with your expansion tank, you don't have to do anything with it. Just fill the system. The tank already contains 12psi and will be ready to work as soon as you turn on the boiler. Your pressure may be a little high in the system after you fill with cold water and heat it up but that is normal and as long as it doesn't go above 20, there is nothing to worry about at all. If it does get higher than that, you can just drain off a little bit until the pressure gets in the 15-20 range.
