Draining the water system...?

How do you drain the water system? The reason being is that I need to rais my waste pipe from its new position in order to get a downward flow. In order to do this I have to move some piping.

Thanks

Hi Jake,
You might want to repost this question on the plumbing board, as this board deals mainly with steam and hot water boilers and systems.
But I will take a crack at it--
I would start by turning your main water supply off, then opening all the faucets, especially the lowest ones and the hightst ones. This removes the vacuum, allowing the system to drain down properly.
