Steam pressure drops water level

10 year old Weil Maclean boiler, gas fired. When the unit first heats up in the morning, the water in the sight glass drops from its normal level as the temp increases, eventually triggering the water level sensor. Unit shuts down, water flows back in, when water is sensed it fires up again. Takes four or five cycles until pipes heat up and steam flows normally. Seems like steam pressure buildup into cold delivery pipes forces water back out the return lines (nowhere else it can go that I can figure). Why? No water coming out the vents on any return lines. Should I install a check valve to prevent this? Is there any other reason anyone can think of? Thanks

There should be an equalizer pipe as part of the header. It keeps pressure difference from taking water out of the boiler. Do you have the means to email some pictures of the boiler and near boiler piping? If so, I will look and give any ideas I may have.
