heating zones


I currently have a conservertry with a radiator which is plumbed into the main heating system of the house. The problem i have is the heating switches off when the room stat reaches temperatue although the conservertry is still freezing cold. How do i go about zoning the system so the conservertry is zoned independantly from the rest off the house. Whats involved electrically and plumbing wise. any advice would be welcomed !!!.

Can you define for me what you mean by a "conservertry". I am not familiar with that terminology, so if I knew what it was, maybe I could help you.

Is this just a remote room in the house that is a long way from the thermostat and the boiler?

Where is it located from the boiler, e.g. highest and furthest? Have you bled the radiator, and do you get water out?

How many floors in the house? What is the boiler pressure? Is this a steam or hot water system?

We need more information in order to help you.

I think he means 'conservatory'. Likely an attached greenhouse or sitting room with lots of glass that loses heat as fast as it is pumped in.

The problem appears to be that the conservatory (a room with high heat loss) is on the same heating zone as the main floor of the house (which has a lower heat loss). The thermostat is in the low heat loss part of the house so it reaches the cut off temperature before the conservatory warms up.

The ideal solution would be to place the conservatory on its own heating zone with a separate thermostat. A less costly (and much less precise) solution woul dbe to increase the size of or add radiators to the conservatory so it is getting more BTU's per SF than the portion of the house with a lower heat loss.
