How to change the inlet steam radiator valve (not the air valve)

I have a leak in a steam radiator valve (one pipe steam system). How to change it? Do I need to shut off the whole heating system? Thank you.

Turn off the boiler, and that is all. There will be no steam present but possibly a small amount of water. Put a towel down so you don't stain the floor. The hardest part of the job is getting the spud out of the radiator. You can buy a wrench made just for that purpose but it still is a bear to get them out usually.
