Part of zone with baseboard not heating

I currently have 3 zones in the house. 2 work just fine. 3rd zone covers 4 rooms. Only 2 of the four have constant heat. Have tried bleeding and the 2 cold rooms get heated for about 10 minutes and then goes ice cold again.

Any ideas of what I can do would very much be appreciated.

Sounds like you may have a circulator not running. When you bleed the baseboards convection will move hot water into the loop and heat a little but will start to cool down as soon as you stop bleeding.

One Zone Down

pollyana:

Could you give us more info about your system; do you have zone valves or circulators controlling your zones, or do you have one circulator and 3 zone valves & the brand name of the zone valves; have you closely inspected the zone valves to see if there is any heat damage or loose wires; is there any "burnt smell" to the zone valve in the problem zone; have you put your ear close to the circulator pump that pumps water to the zone when the zone is "calling for heat" (thermostat turned up) to see if you can hear it humming (you can place a piece of stick or pipe onto the circulator & hold it to your ear to amplify the pump's running noise).

Do you know if there are any diverter valves in the pipe zone feeding the 4 cold rooms, or is this a series pipe zone; when you bled the baseboard in those rooms, did you get air or water; are there any shutoff valves on the baseboard & have you made sure to turn them all the way open; has this happened previously, & how long has this problem existed??????
