boiler service??

I have a Burnham Furnance heated by natural gas for my steam heat system. Should I be getting this serviced every year? Some people have suggested that since it's natural gas it doesn't need it so often.

Boiler service

I encourage everyone having any fuel burning equipment to at least do some basic checks each year. In your case the basics would include: removing the vent pipe, looking down into the boiler to look for blocked passages, looking up the chimney to make sure it is not blocked & is in good shape, making sure the low water cut-off & water feeder function properly, checking draft thru the boiler (this is easily done with an incence stick or, heaven forbid, the smoke from burning tobacco held at the air intake near the flames) the smoke should be drawn in thru the flame & out the chimney.
Every second or third year have a pro come in give the burners & boiler a good cleaning & perform a complete combustion analysis.
