Fuel Filter

I'm not trying to discourage you from doing your own work but your best bet is to have a service person come in & do a "tune up". This would involve changing the fuel filter, nozzle, & pump screen (if applicable). The servicer would also clean, inspect, & adjust the electrodes & adjust the air on the burner if necessary. If you want the furnace/boiler cleaned & serviced, that would be considerably more involved. Most service people don't mind you watching & asking questions. The money you spend on the service call would be well worth it. Call it the price of education.
