Thermostat wiring

Red normally goes to R or Rh & white to W. If you installed a digital thermostat, you should remove the jumper between Rh & Rc. If you have Taco or B & G zone valves, many digital thermostats are not compatible with them.

Taco zone valves

If the lever is easy to move, the valve is open. If it takes some effort, the vavle is closed. No way to tell just by looking.
