low water cutoff

i have a gas furnace, steam radiators. My low water cutoff has started clicking on and off steadily until 1 of 2 things happen. 1) heat comes on 2) i drain water until low water cutoff comes on. I don't see surge in the guage glass. Could it be just the cutoff switch itself?

If the system is overfilling, you have a problem with the feed valve or float switch depending on the type of water feeder. You can close off the water valve and see if things settle down. A steam system that works correctly needs very little water from week to week.
