I need to relocate the air bleed on my 40 yr old system?!

I have an old oil burner (about 40yrs) with water radiated heat. The burner is located on the first floor. I am tearing out a closet and staircase on the 3rd floor, but there is a release valve located under the stairs on the third floor (copper cylinder, about 4 inches in diameter and 4 feet tall with a screw release on the top). I assume this is to rid the system of air and that it is necessary... but I need to move this whole setup about 6 feet over so it is positioned along the wall out of the way so I can make changes. Please advise.

thanks, c

Get a new vent while you are making the changes.

Make sure that there are no air pockets in your piping. You want the air to be able to reach your new location. You also need to make sure that you keep good access to this location because you will need access to that vent in the future.
