Cool Expansion Tank Position ??

Does it matter which direction a hot water heat expansion tank is mounted, Horizontal or upright with the water inlet @ the top? Any advise appreciated

Tank position

It really makes no real difference which way the tank is mounted but I prefer the schrader to be down. One of those chocolate & vanilla things.

On potable water systems, I usually go with the Schrader on top. This helps keep "crud" from collecting in the tank. Virtually every well water expansion tank you see will have the schrader on top.

Heating systems, I'm with Grady.
