Pump on boiler stops running

I have an older AO Smith boiler in my home with a Grundfos pump. the pump will stop running and the water temp will start to go way up. If i tap on the pump it will kick in right away again. this is happening about once a day. Is the pump junk? Or is there something else that could fix this? I would greatly appreciate any help and opinions.
thanks,
copper

Circulator

As I recall, these circulators have a capacitor in the electrical box on the circualtor. The capacitor might be getting weak or the motor could be on it's last legs. If you remove the capacitor & take it to an electric motor shop, they can test it for you & if weak, may have a replacement.
