Burnham series 2 model B

i have issues with the above boiler with intermittent firing where it does not reach 180 but cut off at around 120.
I have actually 2 boilers that have this issue
Is there any possibility that the thermostat is somehow defective?

The exact same boiler for another apt. which does fire to temp. 170

Is there any shut off other then the high limit which does not seem to affect this problem?

BTW it will fire for about 2-3 min. a on - off cycle but never reaches over 120

seems to be incorrect anticipation setting on thermostat causing the problem

could be a low water cut off.

if the low water cut off does not sense water it will shut off the burner.

Drain Faucet of Gas Boiler

Could anybody please give an advice that If the drain faucet of my 2 zone heating system's is leaking a little bit (1 tiny drop in 15 sec.) and I put a brass cap with a rubber seal on the faucet,,, Does this cure will take care of the the dripping problem Or it'll make it worse in future? preventing pipe freeze

Hi, i have an odd one for you. We have boiler heat in our home. while it has for the most part served us well. gas prices being what they are, we had installed a woodburning insert into our existing fireplace. This thing has proven to be a great investment and could easily cut our heating costs by more than half. I would like to depend heavily on the wood burner but my concern is this. We do have some pipes in our system however, which are exposed to cold and inaccessible too. I am afraid that if the boiler does not run regularly these pipes may freeze and the resulting damage would then negate any savings. Is there any way that I can insure that these pipes would not freeze. The house would remain warm but the pipes in the crawl space etc. would not benefit from this. If not, then how often should I make sure the boiler runs? Thanks s2farRead More
