Hi All,
Thank you for all the kind words, I will post some pictures of the after, good idea. Needless to say, have not had a worry since the repair has been done. Have been warm, cozy and quiet.
Will take pix and put up a post when I put them up.

Nice!

From what I know about The Steam, it looks like a nice install to me. And the fact that it works great now is super!

I am curious about the venting on the water heater... I had wondered how that would be done, since it looked like the heater was too tall... I can't recall seeing an arrangement like that before... but I assume all was inspected, etc... and they slapped green stickers on it...

Curious though... wonder if anybody has seen that before where they remove the atmospheric hood, and put a vent right next to the heater... can't see why it wouldn't/shouldn't work? I assume it's an acceptable solution...

NJ Trooper - I've seen that done before, although not recently. It's kind of the "last resort". It's normally not much harder to punch a new thimble into the flue. But it's still 1000% better than what was there before!

day n night

When I look at the pictures, being a lay person, I can see the differences from what I have learned here and oh my goodness it is incredible. Just looking at it , looks much less chaotic. The initial job looks so disorderly, hapharzard, psychotic almost, if that makes sense to anyone. Now it looks neat, proper and functional. Even if you are unaware of how things function one can clearly visualize a difference just in the appearance.
Thank You all, I am safer and wiser.

psychotic almost
that's funny!

I might call it "organic", as though it grew there on it's own...

Thanks OG ... I thank my 'higher power' that nobody was hurt or worse from that water heater install... it appeared in the pics that where the WH vent entered the chimney was LOWER than the top of the WH ... and that would surely have caused flue gas to enter the home... and CO along with it... I thank those 'powers' that Yogi came here and got good advice!

Thanks to all who helped out!

Smile wonderful site

Hi All,
I am very fortunate that I somehow found my way to this site, I do believe my family was spared, at the very least property and monetary casualties and at the very most human casualties. For the advise that spared my family those problems I cannot say thank you enough. It is so nice to know that out there in this giant entanglement called the web there are people out there who use their time and expertise for good, guiding and saving those of us who are less knowledgeable. My family and I are forever grateful to all you wonderful, smart, caring, humanitarians. Keep up the good work.
Regards,
Yolanda
