Noisey Boiler

Hi There

Hope you guys can help.

I have a boiler with a cuenod NC6 . When firing up this can be quite loud for 3mins at a time. The sound will travel up some boxing in my lounge and through boxing in a bedroom. This can be heard from the lounge and in the bedroom , which sometime wakens people when they are asleep. In the boiler room the flue goes up in the corner of the room through a 35cm by 35cm opening through the lounge, bedroom and out the roof. This opening is totally exposed and not blocked in .If i was to block this do you think it would help.I have heard of a hi temp ceramic felt refactory firebox or a silencer ,would this help. I am struggling to find a website that sells these .Can some one piont me in the right direction. I live in a chalet in the alps , so if there is a european supplier that would be great.

Any help and suggestions would do .

Regards

Paolo

Boiler Noise

Boxing in the chimney pipe & insulating with fiberglass or other sound deadening material would probably help. Before doing such a project, please check with the local officials on the right (safe) way to do it.
Not being at all familiar with your boiler, I cannot say if a liner for the chamber is available or not. I suggest you check with the manufacturer about such things. Some manufacturers do not want a chamber liner installed in their boilers due to changes in the heat transfer characteristics.
