Suddenly no hot water or pilot light

All of sudden I have no hot water... there were no previous problems with the system. The furnace simply stopped heating the water, the temperature in the tank has dropped to room temp, and no matter what I set the water tank thermostat to, the the burners will not light. There is power going to the system and it makes a little click when I turn it off and back on, the same click that is usually followed by the sound of the burners turning on.

I have a Burnham Minute Man II Boiler/Water Heater.

I'm guessing I need a new thermostat?

Burnham Minute Man

Does this boiler have a pilot which stays on all the time or is it electronic ignition? If it's a standing pilot type, try lighting the pilot (instructions should be on the boiler). If the pilot will light, but goes out when you release the button, you probably need a new thermocouple, an inexpensive & usually easy DIY job.

Its electronic ignition... could it still be the thermocouple, any way to test that with electronic ignition?

Electronic ignition does not have a thermocouple.

It could be any one of several problems. Does this unit have a flashing LED to identify problems?

Led

Continuing Furd's train of thought, I think. Check the gas valve. If it is a Honeywell & the model number starts with the letters SV, you have a Smart-Valve. They can be quite troublesome & usually are not a DIY job.

Does anything at all happen if you turn off the power, leave it off about 30 seconds, & turn the power back on?
