Taco pump bad???

Hello, I have a taco cartridge circulator pump. Is there any way to tell if this needs replacing.?? Other then very poor hot water psi all over. This has been a problem for sometime and I think I have check everything else....

- cut the power to it and the boiler
- isolate it with the valves on either side of it
- pull it out and look at the impellor
- they aren't expensive

Domestic hot water?

If you are talking about low hot water pressure at the faucets, the circulator would have nothing to do with that.

can hear water running in baseboard pipe

when heat is on we can hear the water running in the baseboard pipes. Is a new occurance. Is there air in the lines? Is the extrol tank needing to be replaced, have done that once already about 6 years ago. Have 2 zones. If it needs to be bled, at what end do we start bleeding at? I remember doing this when we first installed the system, going from one room to the next opening upa small valve on baseboard and letting the air out till water came and then closing it. Cannot remember if we started at the last bedroom, end of line, and worked backwards. or at the beginning of the line in first room. And this was before the 2nd zone was installed, which we did not take part in the bleeding of the system. It is close to heating time and need to fix before it gets cold.Read More

Oil Burner Rumbles at turn off

I have an HB Smith boiler with a Carlin burner- Over the last couple of weeks, the furnace is making a rumbling sound after the burner turns off. It sounds a lot like the rumbling you would get on startup when the burner does not start right away and there is unburned oil in the burn chamber. The burner is starting fine just not turning off the way it should. Any ideas of what to look for? Thanks!Read More
