my auto pilot wont stay lite. ive cleaned that sensor rod and it helps but not for long. the pump always runs, and it keeps going through a cylce of buzzing to a click.

it must me some sort of sensor because if i hold a torch towards the pilot area it stops going through the cycle of buzzing to a click, as soon as I take the torch away its starts buzzing again

I think you need a repairman. Doesn't sound like something you can fix yourself.

Pilot won't stay lit on boiler

have a 9 year old gas fired Utica boiler. The pilot light went out and I am following the directions for re-lighting it, but it won't stay lit. I suspect it may have to do with the metal tube that connects the gas control to the pilot, because when I bought the house a year ago, that tube had been replaced and the old one was lying next to the boiler. Maybe this tube has a short lifespan? Any ideas? If anyone thinks this tube is the problem, any doubts that an amateur could replace it? Our gas company wants $105 for the first 30 minutes, plus parts, so I want to try to repair it myself as long as it isn't too complex. Thanks for helping out. JackRead More

Bolier Overpressuring ?

Hi there , new to the forum . hope you guys can help me out. I have a 20 year old oil fired Buderus boiler for home heating installed in a single floor dwelling. Normal boiler operating parameters are up to 180 deg and 15-20 (cold to hot) psi . My inlet water pressure is regulated with a Watts pressure regulator to 15 psi into the bolier itself Fired it up over the weekend for the first time this season and the pressure ran right up to 30-35 psi before the boiler got to 140 degs . PRV is set for 30 and started to weep, so I quickly bled pressure of the system into a bucket. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out what's up with the pressure. From other posts here , I've gathered that I need to check the expansion tank first. if the bladder was leaking then the bottom of the tank should be warm when the furnace starts cirlcuationg warm water and it was not ... So that leads me to wonder about the air charge on it. how much air pressure should on the tank with 15 psi inlet water ? 15 psi , right ? The tank has a single air scoop with a Taco air release on top of it ... and a tire valve stem on the bottom. Do I need to isolate the tank to check the bladder pressure or can I just do it with a tire gauge. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. :wall:Read More
