I have a slant fin boiler for baseboard heat and hot water. My smart III indirect water heater tank thermostat has quit and I've ordered a new one - it won't be in for 3 days.
Would it be possible to temporarily bypass the thermostat to call for hot water - so the family can shower etc.?

If you "by-pass" the thermostat you will constantly be asking the boiler to create domestic hot water, there will be nothing to stop the demand, you will be making 180* or more hot water.....and if you are set up for priority domestic, your boiler will never switch over to heating mode.......by-passing any safety limit is almost never a good idea
