baxi boiler pressure too high

i have a baxi combi boiler and the central heating water pressure gauge is above 3 it states the pressure should be between 0.5 - 2.5 it is leaking water outside but the pressure does not appear to be lowering at all. it is not cold weather yet but am worried the boiler might blow up just before winter sets in

how can i lower the pressure?

please help

Never just treat the symptoms.

I would first check the expansion tank to make sure it isn't waterlogged.
