Automatic Bleed Valves For Hydronic Systems

Has anyone installed and used the automatic bleed valves for the oil hot water heating system? I understand that they are supposed to be like the ones for steam heat but really ahven't talked to anyone who has installed them. Wondering about reliabilty, leakage etc.
I lean towards it might be a waste of money ( appox $8 a valve) when a closed hydonic two pipe system once purged and bled, properly, of air rarely need additional bleeding

They're really not necessary away from the boiler and they always run the risk of leaking. Never use them with a conventional style expansion tank.
