Boiler control problems please help!

HI, Heres my problem i have a weil-mclain p-wtgo-4 boiler w/ qb180burner & honeywell l8124a aquastat & taco sr503 control, this was the original set up w/a indirect water heater. Now ive done away w/the water heter{now have another source}& i'm tring to wire it back up,the first time the burner ran constantly,so i unplugged the blue low limit wire from the aquastat & now the burner works w/the t-stat but the circ-pump does not,now i wired the circ pump back to the sr503 & the circ pump works w/ the t-stat but no burner.HOW DO I GET THE BURNER & CIRC PUMP TO WORK SIMULTAIUSLY WHEN THE T-STAT CALLS FOR HEAT.ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRICIATED.

I think on the L8124 the circulator won't operate until the boiler temp is above the low limit.

true

i believe thats true the problem is the boiler runs constantly because w the blue wire {low limit} it thinks it needs to maintain the hot water for the indirect water heater thats not there anymore. thanks for your reply.vince

i think it was but i tried to wire w/just the aquastat only & doin away w/ the sr 503,& with the 503 & heat as priority,i think i just need to correct the wiring so it only signals for heat? by the way this is a sraight system no zone valves etc. thank you

If it is just a single zone and no indirect, you can remove the SR503 and wire the burner and circulator from the l8124a aquastat. Make sure the low limit and high limit are set correctly.

First what are the correct limits on that aquqstat,i was told to disconnect the low limit wire, but then the circ pump dont kick in. all i want is when the t-stat calls for heat the circ pump @ burner start, even if i have to buy a new a-stat to achieve this, ithought i could just rewire the L8124a a-stat. I dont want the boiler getting up to say 130 deg. and then the circ pump kick in & send cold water to a hot boiler. if i keep the L8124a w/low limit hooked up then wont the boiler run alot to try to keep that low limit for warm start? I'm converting to cold start because the boiler ran alot to make hot water for the indirct tank i removed.Any part #s for the right stat to do this or any wiring diagrams would be appreciated.thanks

even if i have to buy a new a-stat
That's the best solution.

The thing is, that this should have been a cold start boiler all along, even WITH the indirect. So, the only reason you removed the indirect was to run the boiler cold start ? Indirects work fine with cold start ...

I think you need an L8148A ...

I removed the indirect because the boiler ran way to much to make hot water & the water didn't stay hot enough long enough because of the size of the home, not to mention the cost of elec. was less than i spent on oil. @ the time i wasn't told the boiler could be set up for cold start w/indirect.

Honeywell L7248 would also work. Sometimes you see aquastats on eBay for a good price. I got an unused L8148 for around $30.

I think the 7248 is obsoleted by Honeywell... the replacement is the 7224 ...
