circulator pump

One of the three circulator pumps on my homes heating system isn't functioning. when the thermostat calls for heat power comes to the pump but it doesn't turn on. In the small box that houses the electric connections for the pump there is what appears to be a small yellow resistor or something of that nature. Could this have failed and caused the pump not to turn on and if so how to check if it's good or bad. Thanks Martin

First thing to check would be if power is getting to the pump ... could also be a defective relay somewhere ... do you have a multimeter ?

Does the pump get warm after a while ?

Is this the first time this system has been run since last winter ? Sometimes pumps seize when they sit for long periods not run. Some controls have pump 'excercise' modes that run the pumps for 10 seconds every few days for this reason.
