Boiler keeps running after reaching thermostat temp

I have a steam boiler for which I replaced the thermostat six months ago. Yesterday the boiler kept on running until I shut off the emergency switch. I assume that either the thermostat OR the relay is the problem. Is there a way to test? Right now it's working fine.

just turn the tstat up till the boiler starts then turn it down below the current temp and it should stop. If you turn it down like 5 deg below the temp and it still does not stop then it is either configured wrong or defective. It could be a frozen relay like you said. You would need to remove the 24v input and if it stays closed you know where your problem is.
