No Heat. No Circulation? Air in system? Purge?

Hi first here are the pics of my system. Its is a Trianco Heatmaker Mark 2.

[PICS BELOW]

This is the first Time I am having a challenge with this heater and I think I caused the problem myself. The problem is my condo is cold. The cause may be from when I found out that because my water heater also heats my apartment and not just the water the apartment gets hot even when the heat is off. I was told I can close a lever to prevent that from happening...and it worked. Who wants a hot apartment in the summer? Well now that its cold out and I need heat so i opened up the lever which u can see in the picture above is the lever above the green circulator. I have turned off the system and turned it back on but nothing seems to work. I hear the circulator working and it gets hot meaning no water is getting inside of it. But for some odd reason there seems to be some heat although minimal coming from one of the baseboards in the house.

Second, This is not such a great water heater but its what came with the apartment. I do not get a lot of hot water when the heat is off so i have to turn the heat up in order to get consistent hot water. Any ideas as to why?

Can someone guide me as what to do? How to get air out of the circulator? purge the system? Time for a new system? How are tankless?

OK, your pump is running, right? Is the boiler firing?

You might have an air problem, although that shouldn't be if the system was pressurized all summer. But, anyway, the idea is to bleed each radiator or baseboard unit until water comes out. There should be a bleeder valve at one end or the other of each unit.

I can't read the gauge. What is the pressure?

What is that device, shown in the last photo, that looks like it's encrusted in an inch or more of rust?

Pump and Boiler perfect. Pressure is about 18 and temp is about 180. Yea everything is running and the only thing is no water is going through the circulator. That rusty thing that leaks a little is the auto fill valve. probably should replace it but that's for the hot water not for the heat. i will look into it though.

I will check each radiator for a valve now. I just checked all the radiators and all of them have pipes that go into the wall on both ends. There is some heat coming from them but not as much as usual...Thoughts?

Any answers to this? Same problem 6 years later:( Plumber fixed last time.

Hi, Not sure if my last post posted but I am having the same issue as i did 6 years ago Plenty of Hot water just no baseboard heat. Last time the plumber came and replaced the circulator and pressure valve and added a bleeder valve. I think I bled the system but it seems like i just took water out of the boiler. Not sure if i actually took water/air out of the baseboard heating system. How can i know? We still don't have heat any help would be great! Thanks!

This is the old photo of the pressure valve which has been replaced in 2008.
