Vr8440a 6036

When I checked Honeywell's site, that number came back as obsolete.

gas valve

what I cross- referenced my old valve number vr8440m-3022 it came up with about 40 different valves, the one I bought is in the list, but It sales LP only on the side of the valve.
I can get the pilot light to come on with the boiler, but not the burners?
can it be something else ??

LP Valve

If it is labeled as LP Only, it is not convertable. You probably don't have enough pressure to open the valve. Some LP valves require a minimum of about 9" W.C. to open. Your natural gas system is likely around 5 or 6.
To make a long story short, you need a new valve.

valve

what does it mean when the valve is dual valve combination gas control ??

It also states in directions to change the adjustment screw from LP to natural.
Both these part numbers show listed as replacement parts for each other ?
here is a copy of a list I have.

Dual Valve

The "Dual Valve" means there is a double shut off inside the valve. Some older valves & even newer ones intended just for natural gas are just single. All LP gas valves are dual.

I only came up with one 'functional replacement' for your old valve from Honeywell's site ... where did that list come from ?

This is the one they call a 'functional replacement':

VR8304M 3509

Gas Valve

Some of the others may work but the only one Honeywell lists on their web site as a replacement for your original valve is the VR8304M-3509.

Who knows where that list came from ? the ebay dude mighta made it up himself ... and you might not have gotten the directions that go with that valve ... could be all sorts of scenario ...

or... maybe that's not the list of parts that it replaces, but rather a list of 'keywords' so that his items come up in everybody's search, no matter which valve they're searching for ... it's a common 'trick' ...
