thermostat to white rogers zone valve

I have to wire a honey well themostate to a white rogers zone value. The W/R zone value has numbers 2, 5, 4. 6, 1, 3 while the thermostat has wires red, white green. I have the W/R wiring diagram which uses numbers not colors. I need to know what colors correspond to what number.
Thank you for any help. E J Bear

Do you have the model number for the zone valves and the thermostat handy ? We would be guessing without knowing that much ...

thermostat to white rogers zone valve

The thermostat is a Honeywell CT87A and the White Rogers zone valve is 1311-102.

I don't believe that thermostat will work with the W-R valve.

That valve requires that the thermostat be a true 3 wire thermostat... it has to both power open the valve, AND power it closed. 'Most' zone valves are power open only, and close by themselves when power is removed. The 1311 will stay open. I don't know if they are compatible, but it is possible that the 1361 W-R powerhead will fit that valve body ... the 1361 will work with your thermostat. If your thermostat has three wires, it's because it's a combo heat/cool unit ... those thermostats are just 2 wire for the heating circuit ...

It IS possible to wire up an external relay that would allow you to use the two wire thermostat with that valve ... are you up for hooking up a relay ?

Yes, I'm up to rigging a relay.
