Mushy Water Feed valve

If your haven't changed your water feed valve in 15 or 20 years it could look like the one I changed today.

That can be cleaned and rebuilt with a kit. The same is true for Penn valves.

Considering the cost of the rebuild kit, difficulty in obtaining one and the time required to rebuild versus simple replacement I would always opt for replacing the valve.
