hot water boiler pump question

pumps are locked up on my boiler. The current pumps are taco 007 F3.

Are the 007 F5 an upgrade or do I need to get the 007 F3?
either way, where is good place to get them?

007 F5 can be purchased at Home Depot and Grainger.

I'm really surprised that two pumps would both seize simultaneously.

The Taco pumps have only one moving part - the cartidge/impeller assembly (which is easily replaceable without removing/replacing the entire pump). I would pull out the cartridges from your pumps, and try to figure out what is wrong.

If your pumps have isolation valves, you can pull the cartridge quickly. Otherwise, you'll have to drain the system.

By the way, I don't know how you could verify that such a sealed pump is "locked up" without pulling the cartridge. Or do you think that the motor windings are somehow burned out? You can check that by measuring the resistance across the pump's electric terminals.

pumps

The house has been vacant for some time. I recently started working on the heat system. Both impeller cartridges are out, and locked up. The one does move but it dont move smoothly.

Well, the F5's would be newer , but other than that, identical.

Still seems strange that both pumps conked out together.

I wonder if the pumps, which are water lubricated, were run dry? Or maybe they froze?
