no green light on beckett oil hot water heater

Hi, I had a power surge/interuption and the reset on my beckett oil burner for my hot water doe not show the green light, its like its not there at all. I have checked and I have power to the cad cell, after that, not sure. Anyone have any ideas, I would rather try some things firt before I call the oil repair man tomorrow.

Newer burner? The control that has the LED on it, does it say GENISYS on it?

This is a stupid question but I have to ask: Do you have hot water?

Good question Grady. the green light is only on when the burner is running and the cad cell sees light.

Green Light

Rbeck & I seem to be thinking along the same lines. If the aquastat is satisfied, the burner won't be running therefore no green light.

Fixed the problem

Turns out the interupt relay (cad cell) was bad, replaced that box and it works fine.

Thanks for the reply's, and no I had no hot water at that time gray. Also, just a not on those beckett 7184b interupt relays, if it is in normal cycle, the green light flashes 2 seconds apart, if your out of oil an nee to bleed the line, it flashes half second apart. If the cad cell is bad, the light stays off. I had a tech come in and fix me up, that was his statement about the cad cells on the beckett .

Old Arcoliner Boiler

I have a really old Arcoliner home heating boiler. It uses Beckett pump and oil. Forced hot water system with old type cast iron radiators. The Arcoliner boiler has an access panel on the right side wall (facing the boiler). The panel is leaking. I tried all kinds of gasket making materials, paper gaskets, rubber gaskets, silicone gasket materials, and nothing lasts more than a week or so. The cast iron flange (boiler side) has lots of rust on it. After cleaning it off the surface is not perfect anymore, so that does not help sealing the gasket either. The cover plate is in a very good shape, nice and flat surface. Can anyone recommand what to use to seal it? Or are there any locations that still sell parts for it? Maybe the "original" gasket would hold the best. Anyone has a parts list for this monster? This is what the tag say: Arcoliner No: O 165 T Series: 3BT 3J Thank you, Jerry

purge valve placement and more

Hi everyone Now that it's summer, i must replace some leaky valves and copper pipe. While i'm at it, i want to redo/simplify some of the piping that was poorly done by the previous homeowner, as well as adding a purge valve by changing where the feed water enters the system. As you can see in the picture, the water feed enters in between the boiler inlet and a main ball valve. I want to place it above the valve, so that i can shut it off, and push water through the loop, and out through the boiler's drain valve. I can't purge now because the feed water would bypass the heating loop and exit directly out the boiler drain. Any thoughts? Here's some more if you all are feeling generous: -I'd like to move my zone valves closer to the boiler. I can place them on the return side of my loops, right? They don't have to be on the supply side, do they? Right now they're kinda' in the middle. -Most diagrams i've seen have the ET on the return piping. Mine is on the supply/hot piping. Vice versa with the circ. Should i rectify this or should i "not worry about theory as long as the machinery is doing what it's supposed to do" -my circulator has small leaks around the bolts/flange. Can i fix this by removing the bolt/circ and replacing the gaskets? Thanks for reading. Any insight would be much appreciated The vertical pipe on the right is the boiler outlet. Left is intlet.
