can I plug orofice for vent on backflow preventer?
Hi folks,
I was going to sweat in a backflow preventer for my boiler system just after the shutoff (that is, closer to the boiler than the shutoff). This would put the preventer upstream of the auto-filler, the vent, and the pressure relief valve.
My question is whether I can just get a plug for the hole on the backflow preventer that's apparently for mounting a vent since I already have one installed a little closer to the boiler?
Thanks!

No. That is NOT a vent but an integral part of the backflow prevention device. What you can do is pipe that opening to a floor drain or at least to no closer than six inches off the floor.
