Thumping noise in boiler
I installed a Slant/Fin Liberty II Model LD-30PT boiler from H.D.
last fall. It ran perfectly up until the coldest part of the winter.
You could then briefly hear a thumping noise coming from the
boiler after it cycled off. I could adjust the duration and the
intensity by either raising or lowering the temperature setting
on the control unit. I lowered it to about 185-190 degrees.
My old Weil-McLain had started making this same noise before I replaced it with the Slant/Fin. I would like to be able to run
it a little hotter especially during the cold snaps.

Just how hot ARE you running it? 180° is the 'norm', and you should get sufficient heat out of your radiation with that temperature.
How much pressure do you have in the system when the boiler is cold?

Thumping noise in boiler
It came preset at 209 Hi and 160 Lo. I was running it at 200
and continued to lower the temperature to the 185-190
range to eliminate the noise being produced. The cold pressure
is 12 psi.
Thanks

Well, there's really no such thing as 'preset'...
So you get your domestic hot water from this boiler also?
Turn the HIGH down to 180, and the LOW to 150, and the DIFF to 20 and see how that works for you.

Thumping in boiler
I too have a thumping sound after my boiler stops cycling. It is a Slant Fin Liberty 2 LD30 . I only use it for domestic hot water, as I heat my home with wood. So after it makes some hot water, it bangs like hell like an air hammer. Please help with this if you can. I need to fix it myself. No money for a pro. I have to admit it hasn't been serviced in a couple of years
