I am currently renovating my 1st floor and was unable to get the radiators re-hooked back up. My system is drained to the boiler. I drained the system via the temp and pressure relief valve which is at the top of the boiler unit. Can i run the boiler for domestic hot water? It is a summer winter hookup. Again, i drained the system through the relief valve that is above the unit so i would assume there is water in the boiler itself. Is it safe to turn the boiler on so i can use the shower?? I ordered a peerless WBV-03 and Reillo package. I wanted the lowest (supported) firing rate – according to peerless documentation this is the reillo F3 firing at 0.60 GPH which according to peerless is the 0.50 x 90 degree B nozzle which is supposed to be the factory installed nozzle. This should produce 74 MBH for the boiler where as I have 46k btu heat loss. The reillo documentation states that 0.60 GPH rating is achieved with the .50 x 60degree/80degree nozzle (?). Problem is, my package came (accidentally) with an F5 head with the .85 x 60 nozzle (from reillo) and a separate 0.65x60 nozzle both seem to be too big for my application. I think .85 is 1.0 GPH and would produce about 120 MBH. 0.65 would likely be around 90 MBH I’ve got a lot of conflicting sources of info here ---- I’m being told to stick with the F5 because it’s “bigger and better” and that the F3 isn’t appropriate or have room to grow … but that doesn’t seem to be according to the docs available. I’ve also been told to just down-fire the F5 with the 0.60x60 nozzle, but that also seems to be too large. According to Reillo docs, I should be able to get the F3 head to achieve 0.50-0.95 GPH, which should be plenty to supply my needed 46k btu heat loss plus some. I can exchange the F5 for the F3, but I’m flooded with (mis)information here. I want the WBV-03 to fire at 74k BTU … should I push forward and get the F3 head? It might not be a peerless package F3, so I also need to know what the default installed/tested nozzle is on the F3.
