Cost to replace a Honeywell V8043 1036 zone valve

Ok, figured out the ball part of the zone valve won't turn anymore. Does anyone know a ballpark estimate for a plumber to come out and replace the whole kit 'n kaboodle? The cost of the new part is $124-$150 locally off the shelf so I'm just wondering about what plumbers charge?

We really can't answer your question.

Plumbers' hourly rates vary from location to location. Best to just phone a couple of recommended pumbers in your area and ask them.

Depending upon your system's valving, it may have to be drained, refilled, and air bled out - that will take an hour or longer, depending on the size of the system and location of bleeder valves. And the time to replace the valve will depend on how it is connected (threaded, soldered, etc.) and whether there is a union close to it.

Depending on the distance, you may have to pay travel time, too.

Good to know. I've only had to call a plumber once and that was to replace the thermo coupler...he made us do it so we wouldn't have to call him for it again.

I'll make some calls.

Was more curious along the lines of figuring out if it would run $500 or $1000....guess I'll find out.

Thanks for answering a newbie's question.

How much did he charge you for the thermocouple 'education'? That's kinda humorous actually!

You can probably get close to halving that price for the valve if you buy online... the plumber wants to make a bit of markup on the hardware though... but he might install a valve you buy...

I would figure not less than 2 hours... maybe 3 tops... less if there are isolation valves on the system that he doesn't have to drain the whole thing to do the job.

I would think $500 is kinda high... maybe $350-$400 'ish' ? just guessing... and don't forget, I'm in the northeast where NOTHING is cheap!
