Slant Fin boiler problem
I have a Slant Fin L 30 boiler that isn't working correctly. It is coming on and running periodically then shutting off and water is circulating but it's not doing it when the thermostat tells it to. I can turn up the thermostat and the control in the boiler's electrical box moves, but it doesn't come on. It will come on maybe ten or fifteen minutes later, run awhile, then turn back off. The temperature in the house is staying about 2 degrees cooler than the thermostat setting.
I am suspicious that it is an electrical switch or relay problem but don't know how to check the different parts. Is this something a do it yourselfer can attempt or should I just call someone?
Thanks for the help.

Since no one answered my post I will update. After I took the cover off the electrical box on the boiler and tapped things with a screwdriver, it started working properly again.

It sounds as though there's a bad solder connection where the relay is mounted to the PC board.
This is assuming that it is a HONEYWELL control.
Is it? What is the model number of the control?
I can tell you this, it won't _stay_ working...
