water heater release valve

I have water streaming out my release valve could the valve be bad or is it the tank?

Water heaters are customarily protected by a temperature & pressure relief valve. Is the water coming out the discharge port of the valve? If so, try manually lifting the valve operator and let it snap closed. Maybe there is some crud on the seat.

Such T&P valves have a finite lifetime. Figure on replacing them every 5-10 years.

Temperature OR Pressure

and remember that valve is designed for both temperature AND/OR Pressure relief...

This should be in the 'water heater' forum... I will move it later.
