Condensate Tank Water pump

Hi, Today I replaced the pump on our condensate tank. Took the old one off and cleaned the metal, put the new gasket on and mounted the pump and tightened it. When I put water in the tank, the pump leaked terrible where the gasket is. I took it off and it look ok so i put it back on...same thing. Is there any kind of paste i can put on there along with the gasket to stop the water from leaking?
Thanks.

This is a steam system? A new gasket shouldn't leak. Inspect the gasket faces to see if anything is gouged, etc. Look at the gasket to see if something is wrong.

Was this a fiber gasket? Did you coat it with gasket shellack?

You can go to an auto parts store - get something called "make a gasket," or something like that. It comes in a tube. Follow the instructions.
