Boiler room sheet metal?

I live in an older house, about 80 years old, that I am doing some boiler work and have been thinking about the sheet metal attached to the ceiling and door.
Do they still do this with the boiler room ceiling and sheet metal or has drywall taken the place of the sheet metal? Is this building code?

Fire rated drywall is fine, check your codes, some locales do require double layers... but if you are looking for that 20 minute rating on a door, you may need to use sheet metal.
