Circulator pump for indirect water heater is running continuosly

I have a Weil-Mclain indirect Hot water heater connected to a weil-mclain boiler. the unit is about 15 yrs old. I noticed that the circulator pump that supplies the water heater has been running for several hours. I do have plenty of hot water. the burner is not running just the circulator pump.
any ideas on what could be wrong. how can i test he thermostat on the water heater.

If i check resistance through the thermostat, should it be open or closed?

Thanks for any info.

Sounds like the aquastat is welded shut.
Operate it and see if it clicks.

What is the boiler temp at ?

Aquastat is a water sensing thermostat. It is what controls the pump and boiler fire for a DHW call

We will need info on the tank and set up

the aquastat is what you are reffering to as the thermostat. same thing basically. if it doesnt click its no good. turn off power to the unit and disconnect your wires. next set the temp as high as it goes on that stat. check continuity of the terminals, you should have continuity. now set the stat as low as it goes, you should see OL or open line. if you dont change the stat.
