Brushes for Furnace Cleaning
My oil furnace is a Weil McLain P-368-WT. I looked on the McMaster-Carr website for brushes to clean it with, and was overwhelmed by all the choices. Can anyone suggest a set of brushes to use for soot cleaning? Thanks, Joe.

For a pin boiler such as yours a small diameter wire bristle brush is about all you need. I wouldn't want a brush much over 1/2" in diameter for the job. Brush diagonally from both sides (be sure to wear safety goggles) then remove the burner & CAREFULLY vacuum out the chamber. Be careful not to damage the fiber "floor" in the chamber.
TIP: A hot boiler cleans MUCH easier & better than does a cold boiler.

Do you think part number 7353T23 on this web page McMaster-Carr would do the job? The brush diameter is 1/2", brush length 3", and the overall length is 27". They seem pretty cheap. Should I get more than one size? There is also a stainless steel version. Worth the extra money? Many thanks!
