Mod/con boiler (Peerless Purefire) DIY PM
Hi,
We installed a peerless purefire boiler with indirect hot water.
As I understand it, these generally need yearly service. I'm curious if there are recommendations and any suggested DIY how to resources for this.
Thanks!

Hi, Congrats...
Just really monthly maintainance. See second to last PDF here.
Peerless® PUREFIRE®
Yearly after off season a check of all controls/boiler for proper function and operation.
Now a boiler is only as good as the install. Alot of these mod cons get installed with out taking advantage of additional controls that are offered at a additional cost. Otherwise you have a very expensive boiler that is doing the same thing as a regular boiler will do.
I have even seen a few homeowners that had higher utility bills after having a mod con boiler installed.
Just thinking out load. Some more of the pros will be on tomorrow and answer any questions you have. Some like my self are local to you. "Hi neighbor".....
What would be great is if you take pics of your install. Take from all angles. Post to a place like photobucket. Its free. Then post the link here.
Not that we will nit pick it but we can make sure your installer did his job.

Hi neighbor! Thanks for the late night reply.
A few pics I had on my phone are below. Pretty sure they did a good job. They put in an outdoor reset, temperature modulating valve on the indirect, backflow preventer on the fill line, etc.

Note that some of these are from before the unit is even fully installed... I'll take and post some more as soon as I can. Thanks!

Sadly for me, good for you, I don't see anything I can nitpick either...
If you do take more pics, stand back a bit and get some wider angles.

I took some more phone pics... Did the best I could, our basement is a mess right now...

Still would love to know if there are pictures or a pictoral DIY of how to do the cleaning with the chemical agent mentioned in the OM.
