Circulator pump turns on but shuts off on oil furnance

Older oil furnance kicks on and heats up but the circulator pump kicks on but then shuts off before the water is able to circulate through the pipes to the radiators. The pipes do not get hot at
all. What would cause the circulator pump to start but then shut off?

What controls the circulating pump? You need to trace the wiring and see what turns it on. It can be a zone valve, aquastat or other controls.

Does the motor get hot? What kind of circulator? Make & model, if available, might be helpful.
