They have always been good operating pumps with many years of operation.

It was making a lot of noise before it stopped working,do you know what would cause that motor to die or perhaps was it defective?

What kind of noise? Was it like a 'hammering' ? Is so, perhaps the 'coupler' gave out?

If you are somewhat handy and if this is the problem, you probably could fix that yourself...

Was it more like a 'grinding' noise?

Was there oil in the bearing assembly?

You haven't told us the model no. of the pump. In addition to 3-piece, dry-rotor pumps, which B&G is most noted for, I think they also sell wet-rotor pumps. A photo would be helpful.

Who installed the pump? If a serviceman, call him. In any case, a 2-week-old pump will still be under warranty. Did the pump work OK initially?

Depending upon the type of pumps, there are several ways a new pump could shoot craps, e.g., running it dry and mounting it in the wrong orientation.
