[B][/B][B][/B][B][/B]I have a newly installed Utica MGB125J propane boiler. It replaced my 26 year old Utica MGB125. I have two zones with baseboard hot water. The new boiler has electronic spark ingnition and an electronic control module. According to the manual, the [U]default setpoint "SP" is 180 degrees [/U]F(adjustable between 130 and 220). The [U]default Setpoint Differential "DF" is 15 degrees [/U]F (adjustable between 10 and 30). Everything appears to be working as it should. When the t-stat calls for heat the circulator starts up and then the boiler fires up and gets itself up to 180 degrees. As the water circulates and the boiler begins to cool down it seems to like to fire up about every 5 -10 minutes to keep the temp within the 15 degree differential. It only fires for a few minutes to get the temp back up to the 180 limit. So my question is this: Is 15 degrees a good Setpoint Differential, or should I bump it to maybe 20 or 25 degrees which (in theory) should provide a little more time between fire ups and longer burns when heat is being called for? Hello, New to site! My shore house in Toms River was in the path of hurricane sandy. There is no gas and power and wont be for months. I usually leave the heat on all winter and use the house on the weekends. This year I will need to winterize the system since there wont be gas or power for months. Heres my problem the boiler is in a crawl space/ attic space. I need to drain the pipes and base boards which will require using a air compressor to force the water up to the boiler (10 feet) so it can be drained out. How do I do this? Where would I connect the compressor? Its a baseboard system 2 bedroom house. Is this the best method? Should I instead add antifreeze? If so can this be distributed without turning the system on? Obviously I am very concerned about my pipes bursting. Any and all advice is appreciated.
