Grundfos Alpha Ground Wire

I replaced my leaking circulator pump with a Grundfos Alpha. It works great; really like the different options.

My old pump didn't have a ground wire. I hooked up the Alpha without a ground wire to get the heat back on. Should I rewire to add a ground wire? What issues could the lack of grounding cause?

Thanks!

with any electrical device, it's good practice to ground the device.
A normal circ is no exception, but it does get grounded thru the pipework and ground system in the hose (as long as it's piped with copper or steel pipe).
Electronic circs may place more need on the ground to control electrical noise either being generated or induced into the electronics. Again it does get grounded thru the pipework, but good practice dictates that you should have a proper ground wire back to the electric panels ground point.
