Weil-McLain CGT 3-way valve seizing

I have a Weil-McLain CGT combo boiler that's about 6 years old. For the past 3 years, every 6 months like clockwork the 3-way valve (controlling flow to either hot water and radiators) seizes and needs replacing. I have been unable to buy just a replacement valve, since it seems the valve is sold only with the 3-way valve body (part no. 635-100-022), which together is $90+.

In light of this, here are my questions:

1) Can you purchase just the 3-way valve itself without the valve body?

2) Is there a cure for preventing the valve from seizing up so quickly?

3) Is there any way to refurbish the seized valves (such as clean with vinegar/CLR) and reuse them?

I greatly appreciate the help and advice!

Not sure what you mean? The complete valve consists of an 'actuator' and the 'valve body'.

Do you mean you are looking to just purchase the 'guts' inside the body?

2) Is there a cure for preventing the valve from seizing up so quickly?
There may be, but one would have to know what is causing the problem before finding a cure.

Is it a mineral buildup inside the valve?

Does your boiler system require the continuous addition of water (which might indicate a leak somewhere)?

3) Is there any way to refurbish the seized valves (such as clean with vinegar/CLR) and reuse them?
Possibly, but I can't say for sure... I would have to see the valve in person to advise.

--------------------- when all else fails, read the manual, and use Google! ----------------

I found this in the CGt boiler manual. I suspect it's what you are looking for?

511-246-398 3-way Valve Repair Kit (Includes: New Valve Plunger and wrench)

You may be able to buy that kit here:

Patriot Supply - 511-246-398

Also, that valve is Honeywell product, these numbers were also in the manual:

635-100-023 3-way Valve Actuator Honeywell VC8710-11
635-100-022 3-way Valve Body Honeywell VC2MS6100
