EXTREME Furnace/Heating Problems
Hello,
We are trying to find information on our situation - The heating system is only pumping out heat in half of our houses radiators. & it always is a different radiator that works each time the heat turns on but it always is only to half. It has REALLY been affecting our heat bill as well - last winter it rose to as high as 1000.00 a month to heat the house. The furnace will have to run for up to 5-7 hours before it finally heats up. We live in a 2 story uninsulated house with a oil furnace converted to steam by our energy provider about 25 years ago. The Furnace itself is about 50 years old from roughly 1966-69. We are trying to figure out whether we need a new furnace or what is the problem - whatever it is it is only getting worse.

converted to steam
Are you sure it wasn't converted FROM steam to HOT WATER?
Let us know this and we can discuss from there.
It wouldn't hurt to post some pictures of the boiler (not a 'furnace' in common HVAC lingo) and the piping around and near the boiler.
